Originally from Tacoma, WA, Tom survived fires, floods, and earthquakes to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California. While in the final year of completing his undergraduate degree, Tom landed an internship at Sony Pictures Imageworks. Working variously as a production manager, coordinator, and render farm supervisor, he contributed to feature films such as “The Rock,” “Final Fantasy – The Spirits Within,” “Happy Feet,” and the first two “X-Men.” films.
While working for a small visual effects company located in Northwestern Massachusetts, Tom realized that you don’t make money making movies, you make money owning the ideas behind the movies. After getting accepted to the Seattle University School of Law, he focused on the study of intellection property law, eventually completing the IP focus area. During this time, he interned with the Law Offices of David Smith, and spent a summer in London, England, studying international entertainment law and international sports law.
After finishing law school Tom worked for a year and a half with Lucasfilm Animation as Resource Manager on the Clone Wars animated television series. He now practices Intellectual Property Law and is an adjunct professor at the DigiPen Institute of Technology. Film and animation remain a passion, so he stays current with developments in 3d animation, virtual reality, and 3d printing.
